Hey guys!
Last week a few co-workers and I started talking about toys from our childhood. We are all children of the 80s and it was so fun to reminisce about all the toys, shows, movies, and food of our youth.
Here were some of the things we talked about:
Garbage Pail Kids
I loved these! I remember my dad would bring home packs of these for me on his way home from work. When I think about them now, I have no idea why I (as a girl) liked them, but I did.
Super Mario Bros.
I can remember spending hours and hours playing this on the floor of my bedroom growing up.
Cabbage Patch Kids
I had several Cabbage Patch Kids and loved them.
Pizzarias
My girlfriend brought these up and I wasn’t sure I knew what she was talking about, but as soon as I saw the picture, I remembered these tasty chips.
The Berenstain Bears
Lisa Frank
I had so many Lisa Frank items – pencils, pens, book covers, and even a comforter.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
While I wasn’t a big fan, I do remember that my sister’s best friend growing up (who was a boy) loved them.
New Kids On The Block
I remember New Kids On The Block because they were the first concert that I ever went to.
He-Man and She-Ra
Strawberry Shortcake
D.A.R.E.
I remember that cops would come talk to our class about drugs throughout the year.
Fraggle Rock
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
Double Dare
Dirty Dancing
OF COURSE I remember this .. only my favorite movie EVER!!! 🙂
The Smurfs
Full House
My sister LOVED this show.
Sweet Secrets
Care Bears
I LOVED LOVED LOVED Care Bears!
Sweet Valley Twins
I think I read pretty much every one of these books.
My Little Pony
I LOVED these!
Popples
Another favorite of mine as a child.
Pound Puppies
Easy Bake Oven
Super Soaker
Mall Madness
aahh, memories!! How many of these do you remember? Anything not on the list that you remember from the 80s?
I don’t remember all of the things you listed but I think that’s because I’m in the UK. But Care Bears, My Little Pony and Popples were favourites of mine too! I still have lots of Care Bears – mostly from the re-release. 🙂
Another childhood memory is Thomas The Tank Engine and Raggy Dolls! 🙂
I’m a kid of the 90’s, and there were many of these that I remember from my childhood!! The one that stands out the most, and that to this day, if I could find it I would totally play it was the Berenstain Bears. I had many books or them and a game for Sega. Ah I miss that!!
OMG mall madness, sweet valley twins, care bears, cabbage patch kids…the list goes on. reading this brought back such fun memories!! thanks! 🙂
The Berenstain Bears were my favourite!!! Also did you ever play with trolls? or Crazy Bones? Maybe that was just me…
Ohhhh em geee I used to LOVE Lisa Frank. Like it was an incessant need in my life – binders, pencils, folders, the whole nine yards. It was SO amazing!
I SITLL HAVE MY MALL MADDNESSSSSS!!!!! That was my fav game growing up and I still have it and all the pieces. The only annoying thing with it was that the box was so big, I had to store it under my bed which I hated b/c nothing belongs under the bed!
Loveeeed the ninja turtles and Ber. Bears! Best books. I also read the ‘Box Car Children’ series…..
LISA FRANK WAS THE BEST TOO. Gah. I wonder what happened to her….
I am SO jealous that you still have your Mall Madness!!!!
Ohhh my god strawberry shortcake and that bearenstein bears book, yessss!
I grew up in the 90’s, and a lot of these things bled over into that time!! The books, the toys..ohh my gosh what a stroll down memory lane!
ah, this brings back so many great memories! Those sweet valley twins books were my favorites!
What a fun post! I LOVED Mall Madness, Lisa Frank, Double Dare, and Honey I Shrunk the Kids. I loved the sequel Honey I Shrunk the Parents too and I loved DARE because I wanted to win the essay contest every year, classic overachiever that I was. I think that I was born a little too late to get the NKOTB trend, I was more of an NSync/BSB girl. I have never seen Dirty Dancing, please don’t kill me. I loved my Easy Bake Oven! I’m sure I wouldn’t have paid 2 cents for what it made in a store tho!
This post brought back so many memories! I loved reading as a child, and I still do. I definitely tried out all of those books 🙂
Have a wonderful week and great finding your blog!
I’m a 90s baby, but I certainly remember a lot of those from my childhood. I was obsessed with Full House and I remember getting a Cabbage Patch doll for Christmas!
loved this flashback
but…. you’re missing legos. And tetris
