Hey guys!

How was your weekend? We had a really nice one over here. I didn’t take all that many pictures but still wanted to catch up with you guys.

When we last talked on Saturday, I was about to leave to get my nails done.

I decided to get something a little different and I really like it. 🙂

After I got home from getting my nails done, Pat and I headed over to the NJ Half Marathon expo so he could pick up his race packet.

We walked around the expo for a while after Pat got his packet. While we were headed back to the car, Pat asked if all the excitement from everyone getting ready for the race made me want to run too, to which I quickly replied, NOT.AT.ALL. haha I have never liked running and used to dread when we HAD to run in school. I am more than happy to leave all the running fun for him. 🙂

After we left the expo, we needed to make a stop at Babies”R”Us.  No, I am not pregnant, nor did I need a gift for a baby shower. We actually needed to go there to get something for Bosco. During the Spring and Summer, we spend quite a bit of time on our back deck.  Bosco also loves to be out there with us, but hardly ever wants to stay on the deck with us and would rather roam around on the grass. The problem with that is there have been numerous occasions that random cats from the neighborhood have decided that our backyard is the best place for them to take a poop. Lovely, right? Well on several of these said occasions, Bosco found their poop and decided it would be a great idea to roll around in it. Let me tell you my friends, one time of having to clean up a dog covered in cat poop is one time too many. Sadly, I had the pleasure of the experience several times. After the last time, I told myself (and Pat and Bosco!) that it would NEVER happen again. A few days ago Pat came up with a great idea – why not get a baby gate for outside so Bosco can come out with us, but can be confined to the deck.  We had to get 2 because of the length of our deck, but we tried it out yesterday and it worked great. I am sure Bosco was less than impressed with the idea though when he saw he would have to hang out with us!

Saturday evening my sister and her boyfriend came over to bring Pat a special treat for after his half marathon on Sunday – my sister made him a mocha coffee cake.

mmm mmm mmm!

We all hung out for a while chatting and then headed out to dinner.

We had a nice dinner and then my sister and Nick went home after we got back to our house.  We spent the rest of Saturday night hanging out on the couch with Bosco.

Sunday morning was race day, and it was an early one. Pat had to get up at 4:30 AM and left the house by 5:30 AM or so.

With all of this race talk, I won’t keep you guys on the edge of your seats any longer (wink wink) to find out how Pat did.  He did awesome! He was done in 10 mins. less than last year.

Bosco and I were very proud of him. 🙂

He came home very sore, which even he thought was kinda strange since he runs 10 miles every weekend. The rest of Sunday was spent going to get some lunch and then lounging around the house so the athlete could recover.

Hey guys!

It is now a week out from Bosco’s surgery and he is already feeling SO much better. He only has another 2 days of antibiotics and another week left to wear his cone. He has an appt. next weekend for a follow-up with his surgeon.

We love this “cone” that we found for him at the pet store. I never knew there were any other options than the typical cone that dogs sometimes have to wear. A few people suggested the type seen in the picture and although it is still a little hard for Bosco to sleep comfortably, it is so much more comfortable than a regular cone (but yet still prevents him from scratching his stitches). I highly recommend it!

I am so happy that Bosco is on the mend.  He’s our baby and we want him to be happy and comfortable.

Summer is coming up and it seems Bosco’s cone will be able to double as a life jacket. So if anyone is having a pool party, Bosco said he is willing and able to be there. 🙂

I am off to get my nails done soon and later today I am going with Pat to pick up his race packet for a half marathon he is going to run tomorrow.

Thank you all for your comments and thoughts for Bosco yesterday. 🙂

The surgery went well. The Dr. said Bosco’s ear was actually a lot worse than he thought it was and the surgery absolutely had to be done. He said due to this, the risk for infection is a lot higher. He won’t have any hearing in his left ear but will be able to sense vibrations. Bosco had to stay there last night and was on morphine for pain.

The Dr. just called a few mins. ago and said Bosco ate for them and seemed comfortable so they feel comfortable sending him home later today. (Bosco will not be happy to find out he will also be leaving with a cone that he will need to wear for 2 weeks.)

I am just so glad we took him to the Dr. yesterday so that he can start to feel better. Bosco has always had ear infections (I don’t think he ever went longer than a month without one), but this time was much different. He started to scream if we even walked by his left ear .. sometimes from 2 feet away .. because he was scared that we were going to bump into it or touch it. He screamed when the Dr. just lifted his ear to look at it yesterday. It was so sad.

Thank you all again for thinking of Bosco. 🙂

Please keep Bosco in your thoughts today .. he is going to have a serious surgery later today to remove his ear canal.   He has had a chronic ear infection that has calcified his ear canal, which has prevented any fluid / wax from getting out as well as not allowing the medicine to get into his ear. The Dr. told us surgery is the only option to treat him at this point, and without treatment, the infection could spread to his brain or even cause meningitis.

Long time no talk, huh? I really can’t say I have all that much to share with you – life has pretty much been the same old, same old. I still just wanted to pop in and say hi though! 🙂

I shared this picture of Bosco on Instagram the other day.  Isn’t he the cutest?!

I ordered this everything bagel spice last week and have used it on eggs, veggies, and salad so far .. it has already become one of my favorite spices EVER. SO delicious!!

I can’t wait to try it on shrimp and chicken!

Last weekend I made some cake batter bars.

These have been my go to dessert to bake for the last year or so. If you have never made them, you need to change that immediately. Trust me.

One day last week I got pulled over for talking on my cell phone. I know I shouldn’t have been on it and I really don’t talk on it too often when I drive. The cop informed me that talking on a cell phone while driving results in a ticket of $200 – $400 and a mandatory court appearance. (yikes!!!) The cop thankfully did not give me a ticket for this, but instead gave me one for an obstructed view (for a car air freshener that I had hanging). He obviously did it to let me off easy (the ticket resulted in a fine of $56 and no court appearance needed), but I was still really upset that I got pulled over at all. Oh well, live and learn. I can say that I haven’t talked on my phone while driving since! 🙂

The next day my sister thought it would be funny to post this on my Facebook wall.

I, however, did not find it to be all that funny at the time. 🙂
