Hey guys!
So I went back and forth about whether or not I wanted to blog about this, mainly because many people have very strong views regarding the topic. The topic I am referring to is plastic surgery.
This time next week, the nose that I have had for the last 35 years is going to look a little different – I am scheduled for a rhinoplasty next Friday. It is something I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember, to be totally honest. I think as soon as I was old enough to understand that you could change things about yourself that you didn’t like, there was no doubt in my mind that oneday I would get a rhinoplasty. The only thing that ever held me back was not doubt about if I wanted to go through with it, but simply the cost.
My view on plastic surgery is if it will make you feel better, then do it! I have never had any type of plastic surgery before, and I am definitely not going to start to change every part of my body now. Even when it comes to my nose, my goal was never to look like a totally different person. I am actually pretty content with the look of my nose from the front – it is the bump that has ALWAYS bothered me and the only thing I want to change.
As soon as I decided this was something I was finally going to do, I did a lot of research and went for a consultation in June. Before I even met with the plastic surgeon that I had a consultation with, I was very impressed with his years of experience, expertise, and the hundreds of before and after pictures I looked at of his work. Pat came with me to the consultation and the Dr. did a great job of addressing any concerns I had and explaining everything to me.
The Dr. was also able to show me what my nose would look like after the surgery.
As you can see in the picture, I will not look like a totally different person or have a drastically different nose. (PS – don’t mind the no makeup, look like I just got up look I had going on! haha) I left the consultation even more sure this was something I wanted to do and just needed to decide when would be best when it came to taking a few days off of work.
After years of wanting to get the bump on my nose smoothed out, I am finally going to get it done next week! I am so excited!! I really have no doubt whatsoever this is something I want to do. My sister asked me what if I don’t like how my nose looks after surgery. I told her that I am so unsatisfied with the way it looks now, so I really can’t see how I could like it less than I already always did. My only real concern is how I will look for a few weeks post surgery, as a lot of people have swelling and quite a bit of bruising.
So, that is my revelation for today. If you want to hear more about my experience and thoughts of the surgery next week, I would be happy to share more of my feelings on the topic.
What are your feelings regarding plastic surgery – be happy with what you were born with or do it if it makes you happy?
Have you or anyone you know had a rhinoplasty?
