Shih Tzus have a tough life

Mother, this is the last thing in the world I want to be doing on my Friday night. I had a very long week. Do you have any idea how stressful it is to take approximately 20 naps a day, have to go outside in the cold to pee and poop, bark at squirrels, snack on various treats throughout the day, and provide security to the household every day?! Oh, and don’t even get me started on how long I have to wait for you 2 humans to prepare every meal for me!!!

Sincerely,

Bosco

Weekend Things

Hey guys!

How was your weekend?  We had a pretty busy but fun weekend over here.

Friday night was pizza night once again. We had dinner, hung out on the couch with Bosco, ate a bunch of snacks, and I made a batch of cinnamon buns (yum!).

Bosco was clearly thrilled by our exciting night.

Saturday was a pretty packed day. I had a morning appt. to get my hair done, so I got up early to get some cleaning done before I left. I cleaned the bathroom, walked Bosco and fed him breakfast, did a load of laundry, and vacuumed. I had a Quest bar (Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – mmmm!!)  for breakfast. I took a shower and then left for my hair appt.

After I got home from my hair appt., I had about 1/2 hr. to eat lunch before I had to leave to get my nails done.

When I got home, Pat and I went out to run a few errands and then my sister and Nick came over. We hung out for a bit at the house and then went out to dinner at a restaurant near our house.

I had a grilled chicken salad and my sister had the same.

We had a nice dinner and then hung out at our house for a while after. We talked about ideas of what to do for New Year’s Eve as well as a trip we want to take into NYC next Saturday. (Random fact – Pat proposed to me in front of the tree in NY back in 2004). 🙂  Nick and Amy stayed for about an hr. before they headed home for the night.

Sunday AM started with a very chilly (it was only 32 degrees out when I woke up!) walk with the Shih Tzu. I got a bunch of stuff around the house done – cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed, did laundry, and started a batch of fiesta chicken in the crock pot. After Pat was up, we took Bosco with us to get some coffee and bagels. Bosco LOVES going for rides in the car (just like his momma!).

I had a bagel with egg, cheddar, and a hash brown  – mmm, mmm, mmm!

After breakfast Pat went to the gym and I stayed home to get some food ready for the week and take a shower. I made a batch of roasted veggies to snack on next week, bagged some carrots for work, and got some other snacks for the week ready. I love to have all my food for during the week all ready to go – makes things so much easier!

Later in the day Pat and I went out to buy a few things we still had to get people (and a certain little Shih Tzu!!) for Christmas. Some of the stores were quite busy, but I think we are now all set with everything we wanted to get.

I think I am about to make myself some hot chocolate and have a sugar cookie.

Have a great night!! 🙂

Our Weekend

Hey guys!

How was your weekend?

Friday night was pizza night in the Cullen house. Pat had pepperoni and I had cheesesteak pizza. Yes, we did get 2 pizzas since we wanted different kinds – they were not regular size pizzas though, they were more like personal pizzas.  (By the way, does anyone remember when you used to get free personal pizzas from Pizza Hut after you read a certain amount of books back in middle school? My husband said they didn’t have that in his town, but I’m telling you, it was a thing (and an AWESOME thing it was!) where I grew up.)

After dinner I decided I was in the mood to bake. I decided on some brown sugar cake batter bars, and as if they were not sweet enough as is, I decided to frost them with some cream cheese icing (AKA the BEST flavor of icing in my opinion).

12342617_10206798196490925_4321718929229213878_n

On Saturday morning, Pat and I got some bagels for breakfast. After breakfast, Pat went to the gym and I took a shower, did some laundry, and then ran some errands. One of the things I wanted to do was make a stop at Bath & Body Works. I saw a post on Instagram that they were having a super sale on candles. The candles are regularly $22.50 each, and were on sale for $8.50!! That is an awesome sale if you ask me, so I decided to stock up!

2000

The rest of the day was not all that exciting. Pat had a few things to do for work, so I ran out to get us some lunch and then I just hung out at the house for a few hrs. – read a book and blogs, listened to music, and made Bosco snuggle with me. 🙂

A Christmas gift that I ordered for Pat was also delivered.  A few years ago I made Pat a Bosco calendar (and one for myself, of course) as a Christmas gift. He loved it and I made one for him every year since.

Here is a sneak peek of this year’s calendar. 🙂

When Pat was done with his work, I made him take me on a ride to look at Christmas lights. 🙂 We drove around for about an hr. and then went out to dinner.

IMG_3457

I had Balsamic chicken with roasted peppers, mozzarella, and penne. It was delicious and very filling.

The rest of Saturday night was spent hanging out on the couch with Bosco.

I took Bosco for a very chilly walk on Sunday AM. When we got back to the house, I cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed the house, looked through coupons, did some laundry, started a batch of chicken in the crock pot, and then Pat and I went to get bagels for breakfast.

But first, coffee was had.

IMG_3461

After breakfast, Pat had some more stuff to do for work while I got some food / snacks ready for next week, took a shower, and caught up on Facebook / Instagram / blogs.

We took a ride to check out a house that we saw online and then went out for a late lunch.

mmm, pizza 🙂

Now we’re home and I have to get my chicken out of the crock pot and put it into containers. I am going to have the chicken on top of salad for dinner during the week.

Have a great night, guys!! 🙂

Weekend Things

Hey guys!

Did you have a nice weekend? I am sure many of you had an extra long weekend. Sadly, I did not.

I had to work all day Friday and then did a bit of online shopping when I got home. I was able to take advantage of some great Black Friday sales and bought some things for my sister and Pat (and MAYBE a thing or two for myself!).  One of the things I bought for myself was another pair of these leggings, which are by far the best leggings that I ever owned.

Saturday morning I took Bosco for an early walk and then headed to my one month follow-up appt. with my plastic surgeon.  The Dr. said my nose looked great and took some post surgery pictures so we could compare them to the previous pictures that he took. I will share the pictures with you even though I don’t have ANY makeup on in the pictures (so please only look at my nose and ignore the rest of my tired looking face – it was a very early appt.!). 🙂

100

200

At this point, my nose is pretty much back to normal. It is still a bit sensitive near the tip, as well as a bit swollen, but I feel much better and feel much more comfortable with it. I am very happy with it and so glad that I had the surgery.

After I got home from my appt., it was time to take Bosco for his follow-up appt. for his paw. The vet said his paw looked great and the bump was completely gone, so we no longer have to soak it 2 x / day. Bosco was very happy to hear that (as were Pat and I – haha!).  The Dr. said the bump must have been from a cyst that burst since it went away in just 2 weeks with the help of his daily soaks.

After the appt. at the vet, I roasted some asparagus when we got home, had lunch, and read my book for a while. Later in the day, Pat and I took a trip to Wegmans and then pretty much just hung out with Bosco the rest of the day.

Sunday started with another early morning walk with my boy.

This look = mom, stop taking my picture so we can go on my walk. 🙂

When we got back from our walk, I fed the Shih Tzu, had some coffee and breakfast, and then went to the gym.  That’s right, the gym – for the first time in about 6 weeks or so (in my defense, I was told not to go for 4 weeks after my surgery by my Dr.).

IMG_3398

I just did a pretty quick leg workout, but it’s better than nothing, right? 🙂

We had lunch at home and then went to look at a few houses – including one that we have went to see a few times already and LOVE (if we can sell our house soon, maybe it will be ours one day!).

After looking at houses, we went to the movies to see Secret in Their Eyes. I don’t even remember the last time we went to the movies.

Now we are home and it is time to have dinner and get some food ready for the next week.

Have a great night, guys! 🙂

Some Favorites of Lately

Hey guys!

Happy Tuesday! Today I wanted to share some things I have been loving lately. So let’s get right to it, shall we?

iCoffee Coffee Maker

1000

I have had this coffee maker for about a month now and can say I LOVE it! It makes great tasting coffee, has many options for the amount of coffee you want to brew, and it looks pretty too! I am so happy with it and glad that I bought it. The first Keurig that I had lasted for many years, but after it broke and was replaced, I had nothing but problems with them. It seems like maybe the newer models are not made as great as they once were.  I love the iCoffee machine and definitely recommend it!

philosophy fresh cream lotion

3000

I have had this lotion for a while now, but just recently remembered how much I love it. The smell is unbelievable and it is super hydrating.  I use it every single day lately and actually just ordered another one so I never run out!

Bosco

12239964_

You know I couldn’t have a favorites post and not mention my favorite little buddy ever, right? Bosco is my favorite all day, every day. I took this picture because someone was apparently not happy with the way I made the bed this morning, so he took matters into his own hands (paws). 🙂

Halo Top Ice Cream

4000

I am OBSESSED with this ice cream. I had heard a lot about it on blogs and Instagram but never tried it until recently. It is low-calorie, high-protein, and low-sugar, and absolutely DELICIOUS.  It has been my nightly snack for the last few weeks and to me it tastes just as delicious as regular full fat ice cream. The only food store near me that seems to carry it is Wegmans. The closest Wegmans to my house is about 20 mins. away, but you better believe that I made a trip there last weekend specifically just to get several pints of the Vanilla Bean flavor. Trust me and go get some for yourselves .. you can thank me later.

Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner

2000

This is the first high end line of shampoo or conditioner that I have ever bought. I have always just used drugstore brands and never had a problem, even when my hair was platinum blonde. Lately my hair started to look quite brassy, so I decided to look into shampoo and conditioner made specifically for blonde hair. I saw this was highly recommended on a blog that I read, so I decided to give it a shot. The verdict – I LOVE it! Even though it is expensive, it smells awesome, it helped reduce brassiness, it leaves my hair super soft and hydrated, and a little goes a long way so I think it will last me a really long time. I think sometimes you get what you pay for, and in this case, I am willing to pay a bit more when I notice a difference compared to cheaper brands.

So, those are some of my recent favorites.  What have you been loving lately?

Weekend Snapshots

Hey guys!

How was your weekend? We had a lot of rain here in NJ this weekend, but we were thankfully spared a direct hit from Hurricane Joaquin. I didn’t do anything all that exciting – I did make it to the gym (2 times!!), baked (and ate!) some cake batter bars on Friday night, caught up on How to get away with Murder, went to Target, took Bosco to the groomer, had my first pumpkin coffee of the season, made some fajita chicken in the crock pot to have on top of salad for dinner next week, and got a lot of reading done.

Here are some snapshots from the weekend:

New book and door, vet visit, Bath and Body Works trip, and makeup advice

Hey guys!

Happy Saturday!  Could I have fit anything else into that blog title?? 🙂 How is your weekend going so far?

I have lots of stuff to fill you guys in on, so let’s get started.

On Monday, we got 2 new front doors for the house, as per the suggestion of our realtor.

I really like the color that we picked for the door. What do you guys think?

I am proud to say that I actually made it to the gym today. I was undecided if I wanted to go or not, but am glad that I did.  I do have to thank this man for getting me through my workout though!

11057836_10206393998786235_1892722649805365128_n

This AM we took Bosco to the vet because we found a growth on his face that we’ve never seen before.

Bosco1

Bosco2

He has a lot of cysts on his body (it is pretty common for his breed, especially for his age), but this growth was unlike the others he has. I did not like the look of it at all and was honestly really concerned that it could be skin cancer. I am SO SO SO thankful that it isn’t. The vet said that it was due to a virus (that his immune system should fight off on its own). He said he would recommend getting it removed eventually, but there is no rush to get it done immediately.

Speaking of Bosco, this was a picture that I took of him the other day right before I left for work.

Bosco3

Someone looked very sleepy and I have a feeling that his watchdog duties may not have been up to par that day. 🙂

After we got home from the vet this AM, I made a stop at Bath and Body Works.

This my friends, is reason #125895426580000 that I love Fall. FYI – The Maple Sugar Kiss smells UNBELIEVABLE! I think you should get some for yourself – like yesterday!!

I also started a new book today.

I LOVED Still Missing and That Night (2 of the best books I have read in a very long time!) by Chevy Stevens so I am excited to read this new book of hers.

Do any of you watch How to get away with Murder?

show

I love the show and am so excited for the new season that starts on Thursday!

Now for some makeup advice. Next weekend Pat and I are going to my sister’s best friend’s wedding. I am going to MAC to get my makeup done that AM, but am still unsure what I want to get done.

Here are a few looks I really liked .. let me know what one you like the most.

Happy Saturday

Hey guys!

Happy Saturday! 🙂   How goes it?

I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get over a horrible cold. I had a sore throat and runny nose for about a week that I thought started to get better, but instead turned into a sinus infection. Not fun.  I went to the Dr. on Tuesday and was put on antibiotics for 10 days, but still don’t feel all that great.  While I no longer have a sore throat and my nose is not running as much (thankfully!), I am still so congested. ughhh – I can’t wait to feel better.

Not too much else has been going on around here. I have been drinking iced coffee and eating Yasso bars like they are going out of style, I renewed my notary certificate last week, and have been taking the usual 100000 pictures / day of Bosco. Oh, we also booked our flights to Aruba for our vacation in September! We booked our vacation a few months ago, but now have our flight all set as well. CAN’T.WAIT!

Last night we just hung out with Bosco on the couch for most of the night.

11666172_10205916506369223_6676539906484158674_n

I love that smile and cute face.

Pat and I went to get coffee this AM, came home and ate breakfast, did some laundry, and then I gave Bosco a bath. I love when he is all clean and fluffy.

He looks thrilled, doesn’t he? 🙂

All clean!

We don’t have anything all that exciting going on the rest of the day. I want to start a new book and just get some things done around the house. Tonight we are going over my sister’s boyfriend’s house for dinner. He is going to make us beer can chicken on the grill and marinated vegetables. He is quite the chef and loves to cook, so I am sure it will be delicious. My sister and Nick send me pictures almost every night of the different meals they made and you should see some of the pictures – enough to make you drool!

Have a great day and rest of the weekend, guys! 🙂

Thursday Things

Hey guys!

Happy Thursday!     How is everyone doing?    I had off of work today, so today has been GREAT over here.    I still have lots of vacation days left that need to be used by the end of the year, so I decided to take one this week.

Speaking of vacation, Pat and I decided we are going to go away for a week in early October.   What we haven’t decided yet is where to.    We own a timeshare in Aruba and haven’t been there in 2 years, but we checked out flights last night and they were crazy expensive so we’ll have to see.      We can always trade in our week in Aruba and go to another Marriott Vacation Club Resort, so we are going to look at our options.

10

picture I took in Aruba on our last trip there.

Even though I had off today, I still got up pretty early.   I am a morning person and always have been!    I did some laundry, cleaned the house a bit, went to the gym, and then did our food shopping for the week.

2

I picked these up while food shopping and can’t want to try them!

I also got this container of kiwi and strawberries.

3

How juicy and delicious does this look??!!

After food shopping, I decided to hit up the outlet stores by our house.

4

I have yoga pants that I am in LOVE with and wanted to get more.

5

I actually got 2 pairs of the blue ones because I liked them so much!

When I got home, I had to go through the necessary bag inspection by Bosco.    Bosco MUST look through any and all bags brought into the house.   I think everything got the All – OK!    🙂

6

I also wanted to get a cowboy hat at the outlet stores but wasn’t able to find one.     Pat and I are going to see Kenny Chesney this weekend and we both want to get a cowboy hat to wear to the concert.     I went into about 20 – 25 different stores that I thought could have them, but apparently there isn’t much of a demand for cowboy hats.    🙂

002

I picked this up at Bath & Body Works yesterday and LOVE it.      It smells and feels incredible!

9

Well, I am off to go look for a cowboy hat.      Enjoy the rest of your day!!   🙂
