Weekend Things

Hey guys!

Did you have a nice weekend? I am sure many of you had an extra long weekend. Sadly, I did not.

I had to work all day Friday and then did a bit of online shopping when I got home. I was able to take advantage of some great Black Friday sales and bought some things for my sister and Pat (and MAYBE a thing or two for myself!).  One of the things I bought for myself was another pair of these leggings, which are by far the best leggings that I ever owned.

Saturday morning I took Bosco for an early walk and then headed to my one month follow-up appt. with my plastic surgeon.  The Dr. said my nose looked great and took some post surgery pictures so we could compare them to the previous pictures that he took. I will share the pictures with you even though I don’t have ANY makeup on in the pictures (so please only look at my nose and ignore the rest of my tired looking face – it was a very early appt.!). 🙂

At this point, my nose is pretty much back to normal. It is still a bit sensitive near the tip, as well as a bit swollen, but I feel much better and feel much more comfortable with it. I am very happy with it and so glad that I had the surgery.

After I got home from my appt., it was time to take Bosco for his follow-up appt. for his paw. The vet said his paw looked great and the bump was completely gone, so we no longer have to soak it 2 x / day. Bosco was very happy to hear that (as were Pat and I – haha!).  The Dr. said the bump must have been from a cyst that burst since it went away in just 2 weeks with the help of his daily soaks.

After the appt. at the vet, I roasted some asparagus when we got home, had lunch, and read my book for a while. Later in the day, Pat and I took a trip to Wegmans and then pretty much just hung out with Bosco the rest of the day.

Sunday started with another early morning walk with my boy.

This look = mom, stop taking my picture so we can go on my walk. 🙂

When we got back from our walk, I fed the Shih Tzu, had some coffee and breakfast, and then went to the gym.  That’s right, the gym – for the first time in about 6 weeks or so (in my defense, I was told not to go for 4 weeks after my surgery by my Dr.).

I just did a pretty quick leg workout, but it’s better than nothing, right? 🙂

We had lunch at home and then went to look at a few houses – including one that we have went to see a few times already and LOVE (if we can sell our house soon, maybe it will be ours one day!).

After looking at houses, we went to the movies to see Secret in Their Eyes. I don’t even remember the last time we went to the movies.

Now we are home and it is time to have dinner and get some food ready for the next week.

Have a great night, guys! 🙂

The Big Reveal :-)

Hey guys!

Today marked one week since my rhinoplasty. It was also the first time I was able to see what my nose looked like underneath the bandage that I had on for the last week.

I took one last before picture before I left for my appt. with my Dr. this morning.

I think I was more nervous to finally see my new nose than I was for the actual surgery! I have to say that the recovery from the surgery was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Was I uncomfortable? Of course, but I did not feel the slightest bit of pain all week.  I had a considerable amount of bruising and swelling and I obviously could not breathe through my nose, but I was just thankful that I was not in pain whatsoever. I am still a little bruised and swollen but I am finally able to breathe out of my nose again, I no longer have the bandage on, and I can finally wash my hair (woohoo!!!). I could not get the bandage wet for a week, so I took a bath every day since the surgery rather than a shower and just used dry shampoo in my hair. I have to say that the Amika dry shampoo that I used worked really well, but it is still not the same as an actual wash (especially after a week!).

The Dr. said my nose looked great. He took out my stitches, cleaned up some of the the dried blood around my nose, and took the splint off. He also made me blow my nose for the first time in a week.

So enough chit chat.  Are you guys ready to see my nose?? It is still a little swollen, especially at the top, but I will share a few pictures anyway.

The above 2 pictures were taken right after I walked out of the Dr.’s office. (Please ignore my greasy looking hair and let me remind you that it was not washed for a week.) 🙂

I am very happy with my new nose.  Overall, I got the results that I wanted – the bump is no longer there yet I feel like I still look like ME.

What do you guys think? Be honest!

Well kids, today is the day

Hey guys!

It is about 4:45 AM. I just got out of the shower and Pat and I will be leaving shortly for the surgery center. My surgery is scheduled for 8 AM. I have to be there an hr. before and the surgery center is over an hr. away from our house.  I will try to check in with you guys over the weekend and let you know how everything went and how I am feeling.

For now I will leave you with a picture of a cake that my sister made for me yesterday.

FullSize

How cute and sweet was it of her to make that for me?! She told me she was going to stop by my work since she was off and showed up with a cake for me. 🙂  My new nose better look a little cuter than the one on the cake though! haha

Oh, Pat is going to be holding my phone while I am in surgery. Feel free to leave comments for him of nice things he should do for me while I recover (get me coffee, ice cream, foot massage) .. what else?! 🙂

I will talk to you guys later!!! 🙂

Things may look a tiny bit different around here

Hey guys!

So I went back and forth about whether or not I wanted to blog about this, mainly because many people have very strong views regarding the topic. The topic I am referring to is plastic surgery.

This time next week, the nose that I have had for the last 35 years is going to look a little different – I am scheduled for a rhinoplasty next Friday. It is something I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember, to be totally honest. I think as soon as I was old enough to understand that you could change things about yourself that you didn’t like, there was no doubt in my mind that oneday I would get a rhinoplasty. The only thing that ever held me back was not doubt about if I wanted to go through with it, but simply the cost.

My view on plastic surgery is if it will make you feel better, then do it!  I have never had any type of plastic surgery before, and I am definitely not going to start to change every part of my body now. Even when it comes to my nose, my goal was never to look like a totally different person. I am actually pretty content with the look of my nose from the front – it is the bump that has ALWAYS bothered me and the only thing I want to change.

As soon as I decided this was something I was finally going to do, I did a lot of research and went for a consultation in June. Before I even met with the plastic surgeon that I had a consultation with, I was very impressed with his years of experience, expertise, and the hundreds of before and after pictures I looked at of his work. Pat came with me to the consultation and the Dr. did a great job of addressing any concerns I had and explaining everything to me.

The Dr. was also able to show me what my nose would look like after the surgery.

As you can see in the picture, I will not look like a totally different person or have a drastically different nose. (PS – don’t mind the no makeup, look like I just got up look I had going on! haha) I left the consultation even more sure this was something I wanted to do and just needed to decide when would be best when it came to taking a few days off of work.

After years of wanting to get the bump on my nose smoothed out, I am finally going to get it done next week! I am so excited!! I really have no doubt whatsoever this is something I want to do. My sister asked me what if I don’t like how my nose looks after surgery. I told her that I am so unsatisfied with the way it looks now, so I really can’t see how I could like it less than I already always did.  My only real concern is how I will look for a few weeks post surgery, as a lot of people have swelling and quite a bit of bruising.

So, that is my revelation for today. If you want to hear more about my experience and thoughts of the surgery next week, I would be happy to share more of my feelings on the topic.

What are your feelings regarding plastic surgery – be happy with what you were born with or do it if it makes you happy?

Have you or anyone you know had a rhinoplasty?
